BlaTina Architecture and Design
In Spring 2025, we launched our first-ever Architecture and Design cohort for high school girls, led by Kionna Walker of Next Great Architects. Our BlaTinas explored how to analyze existing spaces and structures, taking their observations to the next level by creating digital drawings. This hands-on experience has allowed them to develop technical skills while fostering creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Design Development Pipeline
From August 2022 through February 2024, we partnered with RATIO and Next Great Architects to teach 5th and 6th-grade girls the principles of architecture.
Field trips and conversations with Business Furniture, Skillman, and ESL Spectrum gave the girls insights and exposure to practical design concepts.
Participants used an online design software to creatively develop their own unique spaces, while also constructing 3D models that brought their visions to life.
